Grills

Things have a funny way of working out. I've always wanted braces because I've hated my overbite. My teeth were never straight enough. My smile was never perfect enough.

Today I got my braces, and it just seems like a new problem added on to my list of problems. My teeth feel like they're being pulled apart from every direction, and I've got little metal boxes covering my teeth making me look like a backup dancer from one of Nelly's rap videos.

I Heart Pakistan

Sometimes I feel
Like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel
Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of angels
Lonely as I am
Together we cry

I drive on her streets
'Cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills
'Cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds
And she kisses me windy
I never worry
Now that is a lie

I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way

It's hard to believe
That there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe
That I'm all alone
At least I have her love
The city she loves me
Lonely as I am
Together we cry

I don't ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all that way

Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough
Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I gave my life away
Under the Bridge by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers

I'm in LOVE with this song. Everytime I listen to it I remember all the fun times I had in Islamabad. This song is dedicated to my city, the capital with lush green hills and wide blue skies. This post is dedicated to my country. I took my first steps on your soil, I learned my first words in your schools, and I learned what it means to be a true patriot from the people who gave it their all for you.

This is for all the people who helped out during the earthquake relief effort. If I could thank each and everyone of you individually, I would. But I can't. So this will have to do.

...Because You're Mine

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time.
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine,
I walk the line

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes, I'll admit I'm a fool for you
Because you're mine,
I walk the line

As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I've known proves that it's right
Because you're mine,
I walk the line

You've got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine,
I walk the line

I'm in love with the dead Johnny Cash. I need to start listening to more of his songs.

Confessions of a Teenage Romantic

Her: What is it about me you like so much?
Him: You're you. Does that explain it well?

She smiles.

Her: For today it does.

Boy Meets World Events

I was watching an old episode (episode 48 from season three to be more precise) of Boy Meets World when Cory and Topanga were still junior high students and Shawn said the funniest thing.

Jonathon, a teacher at the junior high school, introduces the class to the newest edition to the teaching staff, Eli. Eli, the media teacher, explains to the students what they will be taught.

Eli: I guess, if nothing else, I’m here to teach you to find the truth in the media. Because there is a difference between what they say and what is real.

Jonathan: Very good. Watch this. Hunter, what did he just say?

Shawn: Something about Israel?
